South Asian Peace Youth Camp 2011



South Asian Peace Youth Camp- Dec. 2011 in Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka –United Nations Friendship Organisation (SUNFO) together with National Youth Project, Gandhi Peace Foundation, New Delhi will organize a four-day Youth Camp from December 20-23.
The main events/activities in the camp are:
1.Peace talks
2.Peace meditations
3.Peace Cultural shows
4.Peace Parade
5.Peace Art competitions
6.Film shows and Music
7.Interactive workshops in youth issues and peace.
8.Networking sessions
9.Peace exhibition stalls
10.Opening Ceremony and Closing Ceremony with VIPS and Guests
11. Flag hoisting of participating nations.
12. Manual work ( cleaning, gardening etc.)
After ending the camp , in order to experience local culture in Sri Lanka , home stay (optional) could be arranged in Sri Lankan homes in Negombo area for interested youth participants.

Date of Departure-Dec 24/25/26/27 (as per your wish and flight schedules)
Accommodation and Meals:
Camp Stay: Dec 19-23 (5 nights) accommodation will be provided in dormitories at Don Bosco Hostel, Negombo. Participants are advised to bring their sleeping bags, blankets and toiletries.
Meals: Simple 3 vegetarian meals (BF/Lunch/Dinner)  will be provided starting from evening tea & dinner on Dec 19 to Breakfast on Dec 24 at the camp.
Home Stay (Optional): Dec 24-26 (3 nights) sharing accommodation with Sri Lankan families in local host homes. Meals will be provided by host families.
Mini-Shops are available at Campsite for participants needs to buy soft drinks, food items, sanitary items and souvenir items.
Use of Alcohol, Drugs and Cigars  totally prohibited in the camp site.
Registration Age limits:
Anyone, between Age 16-29 ( On 01 December,2011) can apply as Youth participant.
Applicants older than Age 29 are welcome to attend as observers. (Irrespective of age, anybody embodied with the youthful spirit is welcome to join the camp.)
Registration Fee for South Asian Nationalities:
Sri Lankan Participants: SL Rs. 3500.00
Indian Participants: Indian Rs. 2000.00
Participants from Bangladesh, Maldives, Nepal, Afghanistan, Bhutan and Pakistan: No Registration Fee Scholarships  could be arranged through respective Country Coordinators.
Registration Fee for International Participants (outside South Asia):
Developed Countries: USD 250
Developing Countries: USD 150
Least Developed Countries: USD 100

Travel, Visa, Health Insurance Costs: This is an individual responsibility of all delegates.
Dress Code: National Costumes for ceremonies. Suitable dresses for other meetings and events. For the Peace parade: white dress is more appropriate. Bring National Flag, Banners of the participant's country and organizations.
Exhibition Space: Available to display participants and their organizations exhibition materials approved by the camp management committee.
Objectives:
To form a regional platform for young people to initiate collective actions.
To declare youth voices and aspirations as a South Asian Youth Declaration on Peace .
To educate and empower young people to be non-violence change makers of the society .
To facilitate exchange of ideas and sharing of techniques and practices on national,
regional and global peace.
Certification:
A” Certificate of Participation”, “Peace Medal” and Camp Information Kit  will be presented to delegates.
